Thanks for that Linda...I was about to cancel my SK sub and swap it to The Knitter but I think I'll start it with the 3 for £1 offer!

Think Iam going to do it too.

i saw that too Murdo, said you could cancel with 6o days notice, but then when you go to purchase, the only option was dd, and that was for a minimum of 12 months

I looked at that and was worried i might be tied in for a year

If you try to go through checkout modelwidow, it tells you that dd is for minimum of 12 moths, theres no option to pay the £1 with your debit card

I don't see how they can tie you in for a year, if you cancel your dd, they can't take your money, or am I missing something? I subscribed on the 3 for £5.00 on Sunday, oddly with the same company

When I set up my direct debit earlier it said in the small print that you can cancel your direct debit at any time.

Future publishing are usually quite good if you cancel a mag before a sub ends they refund if paid up front.
I used to get Needlecraft then they stopped publishing it, they refunded the remainer of the sub.

I've signed up for it as well but we'll have to make sure we remind each other to write the letters & cancel the sub if not happy.

Thats great, I think I'll sub too! I noticed that the sub won't start till issue three though, so not until the beginning of March, although that6s only a month away isn't it

I'm not sure what the quality of the 'craft bag' will be like tho going on the standard of SK's free gifts
I MAY do it tho - am thinking about it. I wasn't going to buy any more mags and once you try you'll want to keep buying hence the offer

I had a very nice bag when I subbed to SK. I think Jessica subbed at the same time ( at Ally Pally ) and we had quite a good deal if I remember rightly.
I think issue 2 comes out on February 4th, which is only next week, so maybe not enough time to set everything up for subs before then.

I wonder whether you will get the bag straightaway tho or when you're paying the real subscription

I went throught the wording, to see if it seemed like a good deal ( the £1 for 3 is ) but the bag as well ? But I really think, you only get the bag when the subscription starts and not as the first big bright words say on the first web page however I have been known to be wrong before

I just went to the website and got the deal on there, basically 25% off I think? I should probably have waited to see what goodies they would offer later but I was very keen to start my sub

There was a picture of the bag on the original email I had. I'll see if I can copy it over here.

Mmmm - been thinking - what's the closing date for the offer? And when would the first payment come out?
Am tempted by the Knitter - it looks really good. And if I've bought something, I may not hanker after yarn.
Is it available in the shops too?

I think the £1 comes out of your account middle of Feb. You can buy i n WHSmiths and other newsagents Linda - but it's £5.99 £1 for 3 issues is therefore a bit of a snip

This is the bag on offer from The Knitter - different from the one above
|
dreamcatcher
|
Offer details are - bag is worth 27.50, £14 by DD every quarter (28% saving)
Link is here
Or call 0844 848 2852 code is P002
It says this offer ends 31st March. So it's not a 3 issues for £1 or £5 offer but there's a posh bag included
|

|
Ahhh!!! The proper sub to the Knitter gives you a silk Mili bag - yum And the other looks like a HUGE project bag - not bad tho!!
Thanks DC/Linda that's great!!

When I subbed at Ally Pally I was given the bag there and took it home with me on the train
Hmm - the Mili bag looks nice but I suspect it will be the pink one - not unlike the one I already have as I have had snail mail today inviting me to take up the sub as an ex subscriber to S/K and the pink bag was featured.
|
ygymraes
|
I like the pink bag. I didn't go for the offer in the knitter because I have a "thing" about little handles. Plus I thought I'd be able to stuff much more in the pink bag - stuffability is high on my list of bag must-haves.
|
Aknita
|
Oh yes - a bag with stuffability!
Bag heaven!

I've decided not to take out a sub, but did buy the 1st issue yesterday - there are at least 3 items I really like, so that's the price covered!!
And I so don't need another bag

Just an update, I have just received my Mili bag from Future Publishing It's gorgeous, I can see why someone on Rav was using theirs as a handbag! Probably about 12" wide by about 9 or 10 tall. Future were very good after I emailed them, they asked me for the promo code and have effectively changed my sub over after the first 3 issues - so I even save a little bit on the DD too! So, another example of, it's always a good idea to ask
|
pictish
|
Excellent!!! It looks a lovely bag
Have you got the March issue yet?? I mean the one that is due beg of next month. Just wondering when it will arrive
|
dreamcatcher
|
No not yet - I did get my Spring IK from Woolly Workshop though! Looking forward to reading that later Not sure what the publication date is for the next Knitter but I know I got issue 2 several days before it was in the shops.
|
pictish
|
I think it's the beg of March so we might get it at the weekend
|
Aknita
|
It may even be tomorrow.
Sherlock Joy has as ever put two and two together and made at least 10 but.....
Guest Speaker ( Ravelry Day ) due to be announced in the next issue.
Tickets for guest speaker were ( until a glitch in the website ) meant to be going on sale tomorow with the speaker being announced.
That would make the announcement in The Knitter a bit reduntant unless we were expected to receive it tomorrow.
Did that make sense

Perfect sense!!

I subbed through the offer in Issue 2 of The Knitter about two weeks ago, I received my Mili bag at the weekend and it IS gorgeous! Lots of oohs and aahs at my knitting group! It is the same bag as in the picture DC put up..a lovely lilac/lavender colour!
|
Aknita
|
Hmm. And there's me getting a pink bag!
Murdo, sadly not, but I used to play the viola
|

Perhaps you need to switch to the other subscription?? Unless you already have a Mili bag?
I wish I liked the mag a bit more than I did issue 2 or I might have done that
|

I went with the 3 for £1 offer and have just received my pink&black bag, and I must say I was most impressed with it. There is a seperate section on the bottom which would be handy for spare balls etc and the middle bit can hold the current project
|

Oooh hope mine comes today (tho of course I am going out in a minute so will probably miss it )

Mine came yesterday, and I have to say I wasn't overly enamoured if I am honest, but the "new" smell has gone so that's an improvement.
I am very hard to please sometimes

my mag arrived this morning and i was really surprised - haven't had time for more than a quick skim but it looks way better than interweave knits (which i subbed to last year and wish i hadn't as it's soooo boring!).
i'm wondering what was in the first two issues now that i missed!

my bag came yesterday, but couldnt remember for the life of me why i had received it, i thought i might have won a cometition or something, then The Knitter plopped through the door this morning and i remembered.
i have to say i dont like one single thing in there, they all seem far too fussy for my liking, although i suppose for the intricate stitch patterns it is useful, i dont think i will be continuing my sub for this as i havent liked anything in the previous issues that i have flicked through on the stands either, i only did the £1 offer cos it was a bargain
|
janice
|
Maybe my mag will come tomorrow then, we live in hope

I got mine today (I'm in the 3 for £5). Nothing I'd knit either but it's good quality mag. What a refreshing change to read a letters page with no mention or picture of an Alan Dart toy I doubt if I'll continue mne either, this one wil go on ebay soon!
|
pictish

Well I got bag and mag Don't like the bag much but contrary to expectations really liked the mag this time!! There was more to read and it's beautifully done - am actually thinking of switching to the proper subscription and getting the Mili bag

ah! I am slow on the uptake sometimes!
I could do with another nice bag!

I'm in the 3 for a £1 one too - Got my bag yesterday - DD has claimed it and my mag today - havent really looked at it yet
|

I thought you might I've been wanting one of those Mili bags for ages!!!
|
dreamcatcher

Had a look through the mag, I like this one the best of the three so far I have enough Wendy Cotton in stash to make the lovely summery bag and gloves, and I really do like the lacy sweater in Sirdar Baby Bamboo. Might even be tempted to buy the yarn for that rather than sub, it only takes 8 skeins for my size. The long-ish Denim cardi is nice too.
|
pictish
|
Yes I love all those too!!! I have some Baby Bamboo in stash in that colour coincidentally tho not sure if the pattern is too lacy for me, being such a laceaphobe I could do a plain one tho with a lace edging. I also have some denim as well tho that was meant to be Haven from Denim People.
|

I like the Baby Bamboo one too and the Urchin Sweater.
Next months looks interesting as well
I like the themed approach

I liked the pink and black bag, love the two compartments idea, knitting in one, lunch etc in the other to trot off to work with - as for the mag though, hmmmm! glad I only went for the 3 for £1 offer - the only thing I like in it is the throw/blanket, and I can't ever see myself knitting it.
It may be perfect bound with posh quality paper and good printing (DH was exclaiming on all of that having had the standards of the mag he edits reduced my his money-mean boss) but I definitely won't be continuing with it.
|

Having said I'm not struck by the pink and black bag, I am actually using it It's a handy design and great having a zip top which keeps out the kits
