"Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer" - recipe book

I didn't know whether to put this in the recipe section or the book section so I put in in both  Very Happy

It's a recipe book by Jane Brocket in which she's searched out and re-created recipes from much-loved children's books such as Enid Blyton, Milly-Molly-Mandy, Narnia etc etc.

Obviously it's mainly tea time foods, cakes, picnics and so on but I swear I put about six stone on just by reading it  wiggletongue

I now have the urge to go and bake cakes and I had tomato sandwiches for my tea!!
jessica

Sounds good to me.  Made blueberry muffins for tea today.

I remember the Famous Five had meat paste sandwiches for picnics.  Shocked

I have bought Matthew the first Famous Five book in the series (the proper ones!) and weaim to read it over the summer holidays together. It will be lovely for us to share a book  Cool

Mmm know what you mean Fi! Matthew is a level 4 in reading and he's only 8  Shocked

I still read Famous Five when I'm in need of mindless comfort. I read a few when I came out of hospital as my brain couldn't cope with anything else.

I find they're bad for my waistline though as I cannot read one without craving ham sandwiches, huge cooked breakfasts and high tea  Laughing  Only Enid Blyton can make the humble tomato sound like caviar!

Anna I feel hungry now.

I've got this one too  Very Happy   It's been great fun reading through it.  Think my birthday tea this year is going to be an Enid Blyton style picnic.

What a fab idea, loobyj! I'm a December baby so a picnic is out of the question, unfortunately  Sad  I could always have a tea party, I suppose  Laughing
