I was reading a thread on Ravelry last night (just before the power cut turned the computer off and now I can't find the thread to link it  Evil or Very Mad ) about using 9" circular needles for knitting socks - there were quite mixed opinions but somehow the little fiddly devils appeal and I'm in serious danger of treating myself to try them out.
(You know me, I'm desperate to enjoy knitting socks and this is about the only method I haven't tried yet  Laughing )

Anyone here used them?  or know of a uk supplier?  I've found somewhere in the states that sells them and even ships to the uk  Shocked but just wondered if there was somewhere closer to home.

i have one of the Addi short sock needles in a 2mm size if you want to try it, i think it's 10"? The cable is definitely 5" but the needles are curved and i'm struggling to measure them on  my ruler Rolling Eyes

Anyway, if you want it, it's yours Wink

i'm pretty sure these are the 30cm circs...I love them, although I do a 60cm to magic loop the toe and do a short row (if i'm heel flapping, the 30cm gets help from 40cm Wink).

In short,if I could fathom a toe and heel I would but for the cuff, leg and foot they are fabbo!

You mean those 30cm Addi needles? Oooh I bought some when they were new to the UK and couldn't get along with them for knitting socks at all as the aluminium needle part is too short for me. I use mine to hold the foot stitches on while I knit the heel  Confused although i'm not entirely sure they are for this purpose only!!  Laughing  Laughing

Posh stitch holders Debs Wink

I like fact there's no ladders and are excellent for stranded socks.

There was some smaller ones than the addi turbo's though, I can't remember what they where called but if I remember rightly the needles had a bit fo a stretch in them.  I can't remember where I seen them either though. I was tempted to buy some for knitting the legs on tiny longies

I saw those too, they are Hiya Hiya needles. I emailed them, there is no UK supplier for 9 inch at present but some stock longer ones. I really fancied trying some too. Artyarn sell Langs 10inch in quite a few sizes for socks, am thinking of trying one of theirs

Thank you Franney, that's very kind, I've pm'd you.

Yes lillybee, the ones I read about were by Hiyahiya, well at least we now know they aren't sold in the uk.
