OK, I'm in need of a bit of help here.   Rolling Eyes   I want to try and knit something using laceweight yarn, but I'm not sure which sort to get.  In the past I've only had success with jaggerspun zephyr wool/silk lace and CTH merino lace.  Can anyone recommend anything?  I hate slippy yarns and don't think I could manage with cobweb or really fine laceweight!!   Embarassed

Also, once I've got the yarn, I need to find a really easy pattern to do as I don't want to end up frogging and getting p****d off.   Twisted Evil   I was thinking maybe a rectangular stole as I get bored with extra long rows, or one which you start off casting on hundreds of stitches but gets smaller as you knit along.  But definately something with a repetitive pattern where I can use stitch markers as I can't manage lace without.   Laughing

thanks.   Wink

What about the Woodland Shawl or one of Anne Hansons? She has some lovely little as well as big shawls/stoles Smile

Hi CJ

How about some of Ilga Leja's most recent collection - they don't have to be done in laceweight so you could use 4ply or sock yarn instead http://www.woollyworkshop.co.uk/a...og/copy_of_Ilga_Leja_Designs.html

or Heartstrings - http://www.woollyworkshop.co.uk/acatalog/Scarves_and_Stoles.html

Suri Alpaca is nice to use http://www.woollyworkshop.co.uk/acatalog/Suri_Alpaca.html

You could also use Crystal Palace Kid Merino or Panda Silk

thanks you two.   Very Happy

funnily enough, DH has said he'll let me buy some laceweight when he gets paid on wednesday and it's a toss up now between the jaggerspun or CTH merino I think from you Gill.   Laughing  I'll have a look at the Ilja patterns too I think.

I'm just been hunting through my patterns and I have the creatures of the reef one I really like.  Not sure how hard it is though.   Confused

PS, I have some yarn already lined up for the woodland shawl  Wink  terri was kind enough to give me some of the 4ply the author used, so that's in my queue on rav too.

I just can't decide what to knit though - why am I so indecisive?   Rolling Eyes  Laughing

There will always be bigger and smaller stashes than ours, it is all relative. Smile
