Today was my Race for Life and I did it.
The course was soooooo hilly I couldnt believe it and the wind - well it was blowing branches off the tress as we went round the wind was a really problem in places with going up hill and with a gale (I kid you not) in your face it was an achievement to just make progress forward!!and because we have had so much rain there were puddles all around the course hiding deep muddy holes (like it had been ploughed) so it was quite dangerous underfood in places
I completed it in 45 minutes which is 5 minutes SLOWER than the start time I posted way back when
But as I have said on here before my training fell by the wayside and I have gained a massive amount of weight (I think because I stopped smoking) so all in all Im just pleased I did it and with the lack of training it was unrealistic to believe I could beat my original 40 minute time.

Very well done indeed Ali! You are a real hero, and I think that time is fantastic. It is even more impressive because of the dire weather conditions.
You deserve to put your feet up now with a nice frothy hot chocolate! _________________

Well done - if the wind was as strong as it is here, I'm surprised you didn't end up going backward
Yes you definitely deserve a rest and a little treat. |

That sounds awful Ali! - It seems the weather did for us all this year but for different reasons.
I think you did amazingly to finish, and your time is still a good one especially with having given up smoking. Just think that not only have you raised money for cancer but you've also cut down your own personal risk by quitting smoking and getting a bit fitter and that is a pretty awesome achievement...... and you have a benchmark to beat next year!!! tee hee!!! _________________ Claire

Well done Ali. I hope despite the conditions that you aren't put off doing another? The time is fantastic - you should be pleased with yourself for just completing the course. take it easy this afternoon and reward yourself. After all youve done something amazing this morning. _________________

Don't be so hard on yourself. Well done.
Cancer Research UK wouldn't care if you were still running - it's your sponsor money they want, not a world record _________________

Binty you should be so proud of yourself, it would have been so easy for you to have also given up - but you didn't, you still did it and finished. Give yourself a pat on the back - firl - cos you are great for raising the dosh.
