Okay, birdies, this is the thread for posting general questions/answers.
Please ask questions about anything you can think of, remember that the bags will be moving on every month so we'll all find the information useful somewhere along the line.
Also, because of the £2.00 limit, many things may be home-made or charity shop finds or quarter skeins of left-over-after-a-pair-of-socks yarn, so these questions may be fairly wide ranging.
So.
1. Do you collect anything? Stamps, seashells, old cotton reels, pigs, elephants, tape-measures, pencil sharpeners?
2. Do you knit, sew, crochet, quilt, spin, embroider, make lace.... or anything else fibery?
3. Do you eat jam, marmalade, pickle, chutney, lemon curd, mincemeat?
4. Do you drink tea, herb tea, coffee, hot chocolate?
5. Would you use home-made lip-balm, soaps, lotions and potions?
6. Do you have a garden, a windowsill, a green-house?
7. Do you prefer chocolate - dark/milk or perhaps boiled sweets?
Please ask your own questions too!

Answers...
1. Collections.
Pinecones! I try to pick one up from wherever we go on holiday.
Pencils. (not that this is much help, they won't fit!)
Old sewing notions.
2. Knit, sew, quilt, spin.
3. Not mincemeat. Lots of chutneys and bitter marmalades mostly, rather than sweeter things like jam, although jellies are nice.
4. Tea. Herb tea (fruity ones really, not things like camomile, yuk). Hot chocolate. Not coffee.
5. Yes! I'm not really a slapper on of facial moisturiser, but I do like a good bar of soap!
6. Yes, and every year I plan to grow veg and don't make it beyond salads and leeks! No greenhouse up here in the frozen north, so I've never managed exotica like tomatoes!
7. Dark chocolate, not milk, but a good sour sweetie like an acid drop wins over chocolate every time.
Your turn now....

I've had to copy the questions 'cos me memory ain't what it used to be!!!
1. Do you collect anything? Stamps, seashells, old cotton reels, pigs, elephants, tape-measures, pencil sharpeners?
No not really. I seem to collect dust and dog hair quite a lot but I don't think that's what is meant!
2. Do you knit, sew, crochet, quilt, spin, embroider, make lace.... or anything else fibery?
knit, crochet, try to sew... happy to try anything once.
3. Do you eat jam, marmalade, pickle, chutney, lemon curd, mincemeat?
Not often tbh, but never pickles or chutney cos I can't eat vinegar!
4. Do you drink tea, herb tea, coffee, hot chocolate?
builders tea and coffee. Hot choc after a walk if I need warming up
5. Would you use home-made lip-balm, soaps, lotions and potions?
oooooh yes, but never tried any homemade stuff. generally not a cosmetics or lotions kind of gal, but homemade things are special and worth the effort of putting on.
6. Do you have a garden, a windowsill, a green-house?
yes, yes and yes. mostly grow veggies, but the garden is happy to take most things - hardly any shade here though so no good for shade loving plants
7. Do you prefer chocolate - dark/milk or perhaps boiled sweets?
dark choc is my preference, although milk is OK. Sherbert lemons are my all time fave though
Please ask your own questions too!
Do you homecook or buy convenience?
Do you eat biscuits and/or cookies?
If you had an hour to spend doing anything - what would you do?
Do you have children at home and what age are they?
(My answers to above would be:
Homecook except on Saturdays!
Yes,both, usually homemade
In this order of preference: Walk the dog (if it's not pouring with rain) knit, bake.
Nope, although I can be pretty childish myself (in a good way!)
12. Is there anything you'd like that you can't readily get where you are eg KoolAid, KnitPicks stuff from the States?
I don't really know what's available so don't know - I have tried Koolaid though (do people really drink that/??????!)
13. Do you have any pets?
Yes a soon to be put up for adoption, muddy, hairy springer. And 4 chickens.
14. Do you have any non-fibery crafting habits?
Cooking, gardening.
15. Are you allergic to anything?
Shell fish!!!! (although I really can't see anyone sending a pint of prawns in one of these bags! - still you never know!)
16. What are your favourite colours?
I'm broadening my colour range - I seem to have a bit of a dusky pink thing going on at the moment! Love Autumn/nature inspired shades, but bright candy colours don't suit me.
17. Smells and scents - anything that you particularly like or dislike?
I like earthy, woody musty smells. Not sweet smells. Prefer essential oil/natural type scents as processed fragrances tend to make me sneeze.
18. Do you burn candles?
Yes, but generally only for dinner parties etc. I'm not hugely keen on sweet smelling candles, they can fight with the Coq au Vin !!!!
19. Hair - do you have long, short hair and do you use hair clips, hair bands, alice bands etc..?
II have longish hair for the moment, but I change my hairstyle often so who knows what tomorrow may bring. I usually put it up with a hairstick thing (or a DPN, which is more likely to be to hand!) _________________ Claire

I collect elephants.
I drink tea/coffee/herbal /fruity teas, but not anything made by Nestle.
I have sensitive skin and only use tried and tested products. Perfumed things make me itch terribly.
I love dark chocolate, but I don't have a particularly sweet tooth.
I try not to use convenience foods. I love Indian food, especially the sublety of their herbs and spices. I also love cooking Italian style. I am very partial to olives. Yum!
I have a garden.
I will read ANYTHING!
I am looking forward to receiving some diverse and lovely things this year. _________________

I knit and spin. I give all my leftover yarns to charity so I might not be the best recipient for miniskeins. I never get around using them.
I don't eat things like jam, marmelade, cookies or pickle. I prefer salty to sweet, but I like milk chocolate.
I like homemade products like soap. I'm going to try making soap this year.
I drink tea. I prefer loose, black tea with fruit flavors. I make my tea using a little coffee machine, so tea bags aren't very practical.
I don't have a garden, but I have some windowsill plants and a south balcony which is as hot as Sahara desert in summertime. I haven't yet found a plant which could live there.
My favorite scent is lily of the valley. I like all shades of blue. Usually I prefer pastel colors, but right now I like very bright colors because it's very dark in here at the moment.
I have 2 year and 3 year old sons. |
