decided it was time I harvested all my gooseberries and make some jam  Razz   Whose bright idea was it to get bushes with thorns? oh yeah twas mine  Embarassed   My leg is bleeding and so is one of my fingers and that was just one bush  Shocked  Rolling Eyes  And boy do those thorns hurt  Confused Oh bother don't think I have enough sugar to make the jam tonight  Laughing  Confused

The bushes have thorns on for a very good reason - to keep people away from their horrid yukky berries  puke_r

You're lucky you had berries to harvest. None on mine Sad  and I love gooseberries sooooooo much !

My bush is just dripping with berries  Shocked  Will take a photo later and weigh them  Wink   I pruned the other bush but it still only gave me half a dozen and they were all mouldy  Confused

that's teasing i adore gooseberries too and haven't had a single one this year from my bushes and not even seen any in the shops. boo hoo

My poor gooseberry bush got all its leaves chewed off by nasty little caterpillars - needless to say the traumatised plant gave not a single gooseberry this year!
