Thank you Noo I have asked Noo to post this thread as I am knitting my next socks for a friend's birthday (not til September but they may take some time). My friend (who a lot of you will probably be able to guess who it is ) visits here sometimes so I thought if this post is under Noo's name she is less likely to find it. Fingers crossed!
This is the back (sole) of the socks which are Anni's Falling in Love socks from Magknits in February and knitted using December's Yarn Yard club yarn. I posted this one first as the colour is more true, although still more purple and less pink but I cannot capture the colour very well.
This is the front (see the difference in colour!) which hopefully shows the heart motif and cables. I was worried about using a variagated yarn on a lace pattern in case it swamped it, but as n's colours tone so well I think the sock is looking great - much better irl! This is my first time doing toe up, and after a false start I got the hang of it (this site helped with the holey short row problem http://misocrafty.squarespace.com...9/21/short-row-heel-tutorial.html ). Still not decided whether to do gusset or short row heel, but need to decide soon as its only a size 3.5 sock. Very well written pattern, quite challenging for me but enjoyable _________________

wow, PL, that is lovely! I keep meaning to try that pattern, but then I always give in to my fears and do a straightforward top down sock instead. Gorgeous colours!
Erm, I have no idea who your friend might be I'm guessing it's not me though, which is a right old shame, they're lovely socks!
Are your lips unsealed yet Noo? Or is that ginger beer proving too sticky? _________________

FC think of the auctions that PL has done recently for a friend!!!!!
(p.s. Lips are slowly unsealing thanks!!!! - I finally managed to get a sodamstream cylinder on Monday having got three last week which were all empty and back on the shelves (I did rant a little in sainsburys!) so I have ginger cordial and sparkling water..... but I've gone a bit overboard on it, 'cos I missed it so much last week!!!!!! ) _________________ Claire
