Well, here it is, all finished:
Just have to find a frame now (need a 4 x 4in frame, which is not easy to find as they're all made for photos and so are 4 x 6in ) so that I can give it to my little granddaughter.
Thanks everyone for your help and advice, and especially Bernie for sending me the kit.

Thanks, but you really don't want to see the back
It's only very small (4x4inches) and I'm a bit like that, when I start something I just want to get on with it and I can't put it down until it's finished Not always a good idea really as it can become a bit of an obsession
And looking at the photo, I've just noticed a stitch that I've missed - will have to sort that out tonight when I get home _________________ Sandra |

That's superb Sandra! I used to do a fair bit of cross sttich, but I got such a stiff and aching neck from loking down too much - I haven't done any for ages.
It's beautiful.
