I have to admit that I've never ever checked my gauge on socks
What size needles and how many stitches do you usually make socks on ? I usually knit a 60st sock on 2.5mm needles (for my size 5 feet) and I happily knitted several pairs of Monkey socks exactly to pattern (so 64 stitches on 2.5mm needles) and they've fitted me just fine.
I'm not sure that I've been any help Sorry. I'm sure other people will be able to give you better advice _________________

I haven't ever checked my gauge for socks either - I just do what the pattern tells me
I have size 7 feet, Monkeys usually fit me just fine. _________________

Must admit, I'm another who never checks guage in socks, I think the monkyeys are a fairly stretchy pattern anyway.
The only sock pattern I've made which was tight was Jaywalkers, they got frogged. |

The monkey is a stretchy pattern.Rosie, I'm not sure guage would be an issue. 64 sts would be fine and the length of the leg and the foot is so fluid as long as you try to finish at the end of a row 11 you'll be fine. Looking forward to seeing your finished objects! _________________

I never check tension on socks. Hate my monkeys, most fally-downy socks in my drawer
