As we have now moved to the new place, Jacquie and I have been tweaking the message board and behind the scenes slightly in order to improve performance and to keep our bandwidth to a minimum (whatever that means Confused Laughing )

As a result, we have made a decision to delete any members who have zero postings.

I hope we won't offend anyone by doing this, but we have lots of members with no postings against their name for many reasons and it seems prudent to reduce the number.

If you would prefer to remain postless, but still remain a member, then contact either Jacquie or myself via PM.

Thanks for your co-operation with this,

Debbie.

I think that's fair, especially since joining allows you to visit the Powder Room, and that was supposed to be a more private place.

I think this should be an ongoing thing too - that new members should post within 7 days of joining or something???? Could it be put in the "Your registration has been accepted" email, or is that standard?

We get quite a few spam members. I think we are really good about weeding them out straight away, but sometimes we just can't tell. They never post so this would be another weapon in our arsenal against them.

I don't know if we can edit the standard emails or not, I will look into that.

That's right Jacquie, sometimes I just can't tell which new members are spammers and which are authentic with a weird login name. Obviously the website they give often gives me a massive clue (!) but other times I just don't know.

Think it's a good idea. As Debs said, with some of the names/websites you can tell (unless V*agra is an eyelash yarn) butr with others you cn't...so this seems fair Very Happy

I've just been and deleted all the members who have zero posts and have not visited the forum since they registered.

For those members who have zero postings but visit occasionally, I'd like to give them until midday (GMT) on Sunday 18th February 2007 to make a posting.

After this time, I'm afraid that their membership will be deleted to ensure smooth running of the forum.

Update to my post last week with regard to members with zero postings being deleted at midday today

The members who had not posted on the forum at all have now been deleted.

I have not deleted new members who have not had a chance to make any postings as yet, or those which admin uses on rare occasion to check things out with the forum running etc so you'll still see a few members with zero postings in the members list.

Thanks for your co-operation and support everyone! love2

As part of the ongoing forum house cleaning, I shall be deleting anyone with zero postings again next Sunday.... so if you want to stay - say hello at least!!
