Well, I promised myself I would be allowed to cast on something new when I finished my bedsocks. I got some malabrigo lace yarn in a secret pal swap so I thought I'd have a go at a shawl. I just wound up one of the skeins into a ball - was a bit worried at first as the yarn seems quite sticky - in fact I have a nasty feeling it will felt quite easily  Evil or Very Mad - but actually it behaved very well and I'm ready to go! I'm going to have a go at Kiri. I've done a shawl before - did shoalwater for my SIL using Colinette Jitterbug. Just hope I don't get in a tangle with such fine yarn. Hope I've got a long enough circ in the right size too. I'm going to try a 4mm to start with and see how it looks. Wish me luck!

Here's my progress so far. I'm using 3.5mm needles. Could do with pointier points though. First one is probably closer to the actual colour. Will take better photos when there's a bit more of it! I've done the first section Very Happy I did start with 4mm needles but decided they were a bit too big. I like the stitches to be quite 'closed' iykwim?

Thanks! Wish I was off work today so I could do some more. Might get a bit done later this evening.

Looks gorgeous Sharon. Malabrigo laceweight looks and feels identical to my Merino Lace which is fantastic to knit with and doesn't feel like you're knitting with a laceweight yarn.

I know exactly what you mean  Laughing   There are times when I hate going to work because I really want to get on with whatever project I've got on the go at the time.

The beginnings of your shawl look lovely, hope it continues to grow well.
