Ok - in eight weeks time, it will all be over. The dust will have settled on the wrapping paper, the turkey will be a heap of bones on a plate and the dining room ceiling will have a new burn mark where you tried to flambe the pud But best of all, you can sit back and relax enjoying the chocs along with a black n white weepie on the television.
Or will you
Might you be sat in a corner sending smoke signals from the speed your needles are going, while all around you sit glowering people holding IOUs for their Thingmas gifts
I would like to declare now that my annual Thingmas Knitting Panic is open. Roll up, roll up and enjoy the sight
For absolutely no fee at all you can watch me wrestle with:
One nativity set - all ready for stuffing, but needs to be done by 1st Dec
1 pair gloves - have got second glove syndrome
3 pair adult socks - only one sock complete
3 pairs childrens socks - not started
1 chunky jacket - not even ordered the yarn
1 cardigan for Arwen - am I mad?
But every good show needs more than one exhibit - plenty of room in here - come and join me, confess all and start the challenge

Okay.
Fegrig socks... in Fegrig, naturally
Fegrig fingerless mitts in (hopefully) leftovers.
ES Fingerless mitts
YS Fingerless mitts
Something for my mum... ? simple smoke-ring perhaps
Soap. For everyone. This takes 4 weeks to cure, so it needs to be done by the week after next.
Chutney, from pumpkin sitting in the kitchen at the moment. (Might get done at the weekend).

Crikey, I have hardly anything to knit compared to you Looby but will happily join in
1. La Dentelle Belle scarf in Piece of Beauty Silk de la Mer for my mum - started and love it but the going is slow. Only done 3 repeats so far and need to do about 30!
2. Montego Bay scarf for my mum - yet to start.
3. Socks for MrP - in PY Emily but have no idea of pattern.
Plus possibly some other little things which I cant mention here _________________

I've been a bit slack about knitting on the train recently - have been devouring some good books. Think I'll have to give that up and do the socks - that's an hour a day five days a week. Is it a good idea to do one sock from each pair do you think? Or should I complete a pair at a time?
n - might you tell us a bit more about the soap making - that sounds like fun!
pl - your projects all sound lovely - and you've done so much already for Thingmas too - do you have a second pair of hands

Soap is fun to do. The next time I do it, I'll take pictures.
Not for small peeps to make though, or even to have around you while you make it, as it uses caustic soda. Maybe next week when the Club yarns are all posted.

Count me in as well Louise.
So far I have knitted
1 Clapotis for MIL
1 pair of socks for brother
I also decided to knit socks for my class team this year. I have done 3 pairs of socks for this and was winging my way through the final fourth pair when the classroom assistant announced that she was handing in her notice as she'd got a new job. I had finished one pink sock, not yet started on the second but she has big feet - 6 1/2 so now have to wait and see who replaces her. I'm on the interviewing panel but not sure I can make 'foot size' a question!
Anyway I digress. This is what i intend to knit.
1 pair whitewater wristwarmers for SIL (already cast on)
1 Claptois for MIL
1 pair of socks for DH (already cast on but hiding at the bottom of the wardrobe for times when i'm alone)
And another 8 pairs of socks which I think might be wishful thinking.
Let the countdown commence _________________ Kate

LOL I wish! The knitting will be a problem though as I'm such a slow knitter Oh, and I would knit socks in pairs, just in case you run out of time and end up with two odd socks rather than a pair.

You can buy it at places like Wilko or hardware stores GS - just ask for caustic soda. Have you made it before? If not, be careful as a girl from my old soapmaking group burnt a whole in her leg through to the bone and had to have surgery! But if you are careful and follow so basic safety instructions, you should be fine.
And Snail! Thats a lot of knitting - good luck! _________________

Yes, definitely an adult only activity. I wouldn't do it in the same house as children AT ALL.
I have found I can get Caustic Soda in Homebase, but not in B&Q where they want to sell concoctions of "drain cleaner" with other stuff in it as well.
