This is the pair I think I started in June for a friend's birthday and I have to get them finished this month to be in time for her birthday. It is Anni's Falling in Love pattern using the Yarn Yard December club yarn (which is much more purpley than this shot). My dislike of toe up has been mentioned many times previously so I wont go on , but it has ruined the joy of this wonderful pattern for me and these have become a bit of a chore because of it I shall be glad to finish them although I would love to knit this pattern again but cuff down Here's a shot to try and show the love hearts (sorry, difficult to photograph one handed).

PL, the socks are just stunning! You have my complete and utter respect for knitting toe-up - at least now you've tried it and you know you don't like it so you can base any future decisions on your direct experience. Whereas I haven't even attempted it because it scares me too much And well done too for being determined to finish them despite not enjoying it, I'd have given in and frogged them.
You're over halfway there so not much more to go! We're all willing you on! They will be so worth it when they're done. I'm sure your friend will be utterly delighted with them, they're gorgeous _________________

They look fab. You should be proud of them. I love the pattern but would it work the same in a cuff down??? _________________ Kate

I have no idea Kate I wonder if you just reverse the pattern and then do your own thing with the heel etc, whether it would work. I know Anni has a lot on atm, but when she is free I will ask her
And thanks for all the encouragement everyone - it really is appreciated. The funny thing is, these socks have been a feat of endurance for me and will be sent to someone who is going to be testing their endurance to the limit so maybe its appropriate _________________

Does look beautiful though PL...will be worth all the effort! I really don't like toe up patterns! Give me a cuff down heel flap anyday! _________________ Sarah

I'm sure they will be, your friend will adore them....and I'm with you on toe up...it's not for me. I can't seem to find a toe that I like yet. One day when I'm grown up, maybe I'll be able to do them this way too
