This morning was my Race for Life. The day dawned damp underfoot but not too promising. As we got into the car it started to rain, the hour's journey to the venue saw the rain getting heavier, gloom lurked in the heavens. By the time we got to the site it was torrential and by the time we set off we were all soaked to the skin. Still you only get once so they say. I amazed myself by completing the course - running all the way in a time of 34 mins 40 secs
The atmosphere was incredible I would say electric but there wasn't any lightning just everything else the heavens could throw at us.
The highlight of the event? My DD1 turning up from Edinburgh unannounced with a bouquet of flowers for me and secondly? Getting into dry knickers

Give over Binty - I only managed a 2 minute increase and I've been training for months!!! and nobody let me feel bad about myself!!! - You have children - a job away from home (at least I can housekeep whilst working !!!) and you timed yourself after you'd been training a while...... If you'd timed yourself before you started running you'd have improved. You did brilliantly! Next year you'll be better! _________________ Claire

Well done CL |
Now then Binty, We'll be having none of that embarrasment. I bet you weren't first over the line at the start were you? I expect you could knock at least 2 if not 3 or 4 mins off before you actually started! Your course was horrendous and the weather wouln't have helped. At least you did it even with all the difficulties. Come on now buck up we all know how amazing you are for giving up the demon weed. _________________
