Out of a pair of jeans?

My favourite jeans have now broken, they are so comfy but the seam at the top of the leg has totally split open.  Was only a matter of time really as I have worn them constantly.

Anyway, there is a very pretty beaded embroidery on the bottom of one leg and on the pocket so I was thinking I could maybe make a bag out of them but I really don't know where to start.

I was thinking about unpicking the back pocket and cutting out the smaller embroidery, then to just chop the leg off and sew a seam at the bottom.  Would I need to unpick the side seams or would just folding the top over and  stitching it be enough to stop the seam's coming undone.

TIA
Cathie

Here's a link http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=835

Hope you find a new pair that are as comfy as the old ones!

THanks for that,

I was planing on just using the bottom of the leg to make the bag, I can now make two bags. Didn't think of using the top of the jeans really as I just wanted to save the embroidery really.

I made a bag out of a pair of jeans using the top years ago when I was about 18 at college...I used the top keeping the pockets for detail and storage and made the strap using the legs! Smile I loved it and got lots of comments using it! Smile

Will make a start on it either tonight or tomorrow and see how I go.  Bit sad about my jeans, I don't have any other pairs that are as comfy as them,  can't grumble really as I had them for almost 2 years and they where a charity shop bargain as well.
