Has anyone else upgraded to Firefox 3?
I decided the time had come and last night upgraded seemingly with no problems but all of today surfing the internet is almost impossible with Firefox using 90% - 99% whenever I search for anything - or open a new web page - well whenever I do anything it seems.
And of course the computer slows right down - the fan comes on and makes me jump....does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?

I've been using firefox 3 for ages and haven't had any trouble at all. Can't think what might be causing it!? _________________ Claire

I'm on v3.0.5 with no apparent problems.
Not sure what the problem might be, have you got any add-ons that could be causing problems/conflicts? Tools > Add-ons to check what is installed.
You could also take the computer back to a System Restore point before you installed FF3 and see if the strange behaviour continues or is resolved. _________________

No problems for me either In fact if I don't use FF for Rav and I try to use IE it crashes it sometimes. _________________ Ali xxx |

I did restore back to before I installed Firefox3 and then Firefox wouldn't work at all! So I had to re-install it.
The plug-ins I've got are 1)Adobe PDF, 2)MS DRM etscape Network Object (don't know what its for), 3)MS DRM Store Netscape Plug-in, 4)Mozilla Default Plug in, 5) Quick Time Plug-in, 6) Windows Media Player Plug in DLL.
I don't know enough about them to know whether or not I need them. I've not consciously added them. _________________ Kathryn

Sorry the Restore didn't work. If you look in the Add-ons and check under the Extensions tab, just wondered if there were any toolbars or similar that might be causing a problem. I don't think any of the actual plugins should be a problem, I have loads and like you I never actively installed them! _________________

Rav is the main reason I started using FF as I had the same sort of problems with IE. Some of the Rav features don't work too well with IE. I now use FF as my default browser. _________________

I would use FF all the time but I can't get into the forum on FF now - need to check cookies or something. _________________ Ali xxx |

Hmmm interesting - I completely removed Adobe Acrobat reader from my system last year as it caused no end of problems trying to upgrade to a new version. I had to go back to a restore point so was unimpressed! I now use Foxit PDF reader which is free and open source (and not a resource hog).
