Here is the first of my Fawkes socks, the pattern is from Socktopia.

And closer....

This is a lovely pattern to knit. It's the first time I have followed an actual pattern.
The colour is a lovely grey and lilac 4 ply acrylic that I had in stash. I thought it would suit these as the pattern represents phoenix rising from the ashes and they have turned out a lovely ashy colour.
Going to cast on for 2nd sock now.
I already have my eye on more patterns I want to try. I learnt a different way to turn a heel that I was convinced wouldn't fit me but it fits fine.

The very pale yarn really shows off the beautiful pattern, the yarn looks great, I thought it had cashmere in it because it looks so soft Smile

The sock is fabulous looking!! Smile

Beautiful socks. Are they toe-up or toe-down? Lovely neat heel too : )

They are cuff down socks.
I have cast on for the 2nd already.
Turning the heel got me confused as I have always done the....
K21, k2tog, K1 turn
P13, P2tog P1 turn
etc and I am left with about 21 stitches. On this heel I was left with 10.
I do like it though because after I had picked up stitches I only had about 4 decreasing rows to do on the gusset whereas I usually have about 16.
I will definately use this heel again.

One of the patterns I have printed off to try is Elfine, which really scares me as I have only done toe up once and I didn't particularly like it. I am thinking of doing them cuff down, the pattern may be upside down but I bet it'll still be pretty and only us knitters would know it was upside down. Laughing
