I'm trying to make these socks. by glass of fashion - it's a free download from ravelry.

Has any one done these?

Can someone have a look and tell me where I'm going wrong because this "simple" pattern is driving me round the bend.

My problem is that I finished the foot on row 23, did the heel but confused myself with the next part of the pattern
"Leg: knit one round. - I managed that bit ok.

Using the pattern repeat outlined in black in the chart, continue on from where you left off over your instep needle stitches and continue the pattern on over the stitches on the sole needle" - I understand this in theory having made tens of pairs of socks in the past,

So I started row 25 from the black line on the chart. I was 3 stitches out when it came to the shaping. I unpicked it several times. I've sat tonight and counted back from the shaping to see how I should start the round. I seem to have been successful apart from

now every row is a row 29!! The pattern seems to be spiralling but I just don't see how it can if I'm knitting the same stitches every row.

I thought I might be able to get a contact for Glass of Fashion from either ravelry or her website but I can't see anything.

Any wizards out there able to help please?

it looks ok to me, i dont understand what you mean by every row is row 29???

I have knitted 7 rows now since started the leg.

Having counted back from the previous shaping I identified that the next counted row (supposed to be 25 k2tog k2 yf k12 repeat) was infact k1 yf k12 k2tog k1 repeat. (row 29)
I knit one round and expected to then have to do row 31 - yf k12 k2tog k2 but if I did that my yf was 2 sts early of the already set pattern. However if I counted back from the pattern as set, I needed to repeat row 29 to maintain the pattern.

Any clearer?

I'm too stubborn to frog them. I don't like to be beaten by something that is so simple. I've obviously gone wrong somewhere but I can't work out why the pattern still looks to be working but isn't "moving" like it did across the foot.

I think I'll have to wait till the weekend - my next free evening and tink back to the top of the heel (again). I could have had an easier pattern knit by now if all the tinking I've done was forward knitting Rolling Eyes

I've had a quick look at the pattern but I can't see where you're at without actually having a sock at the same point, IYSWIM Confused

One of the people working on it on Rav seems to have had similar issues Confused

Cascade's Charybdis, so at you're not alone, it's obviously a problem with the pattern!

If you look at the Pattern Comments on Ravelry the designer has responded to what people have said, so it might be an idea to ask there and it'll be messaged to her. I know I've got responses from designers before that way. Let us know how you get on? I've got these queued! Very Happy

Perhaps if you leave it for a while and go back to it, it will seem obvious.

At work I find if I cannot get something to balance (accounts) I find if I put it to one side until the next day I can often spot the mistake straight away.
