You can now add your birthday to your profile so it will come up with your avatar and what have you when you post.
It's on the profile form under "occupation"
It is not mandatory, but if you would like to then please do.
It seems that you have to put a year, but if you don't want us to know your true age then you are perfectly welcome to lie.
A birthday wish will appear for the day's birthdays at the bottom of the index page under the list of who is online
ETA: I am just testing it - it's not really my birthday!

If you have changed your style because of the portal/scrolling issue then you may well have lost your birthday data because of a bug that the forum support guys have now fixed.
You can enter your birthday on your profile with your style set to either myff_craftythreadsnyarns1 or myff_craftythreadsnyarns2 and it will appear by your avatar.
