I decided to get the polytunnel tidied today seeing as the ground was too wet to dig Rolling Eyes

I ended up stuck in there when the heavens opened and it rained for over 30 minutes Shocked

At one point my DS2 shouted from the kitchen door 'would you like a tea' I said yes please to which he replied, 'you'll need to come and get it, I'm not coming out in that' Laughing

But that is the polytunnel tidy so tomorrow I plan on cleaning all my pots and things then I'll get some seeds sown Very Happy

Let's hope this year is better for the crops than last year was Wink

Was wondering how everyone elses veggie/flowers are doing Very Happy

Not sown anything yet, DH and boys are prepping our extra land for veggies this year.

The men do more than me.

The boys won't le me help in case I hurt my back. DH says I will have enough to do when all the stuff is ready to use, not sure what he is expecting.

I have to watch when I'm digging, I tend to lose my balance but where there is a will etc. I think this veggie growing love is in my blood, my Papa worked on a farm all his days till he retired, my dad worked on a farm till he was old enough for the Royal Marines& his mum kept chickens and apparently I take my knitting etc from her Very Happy

Not sure who I get my knitting from might be Mum or my Nana.

Nana taught me to embroider, I still have some of her things.

On Dad's side they were from a huge local fishing community (Hessle Road, Hull).

My mum didn't do a lot of knitting but she did show me how to Very Happy

but I have always been a knitter/sewer/gardener and it would seem these are more my dads' side Laughing

Funnily enough I have been cross stitching for about 20 years and my dad took it up about 8 years ago while he was recuperating after an operation, so does this mean he takes after me Laughing

Been in the polytunnel sowing some sweet peas, coreopsis, french marigolds, spring onions, sweet basil. red basil, dill, parsley, coriander and chives Very Happy

Also transplanted some cauliflower into individual pots, just need to do the same with some lettuces Very Happy

Then if it stays dry I thought I would try and dig over some of the veggie patch Very Happy

We have had a lazy day cos DS2 was ill last night so we are all tired today.

Didn't get any digging done, we had some rain/snow showers but I'm still pleased with what I achieved Very Happy

I'm probably not going to do a veggie garden this year Confused

It was a bit of a disaster last year what with Mum's hospital stay and i didn't have enough time to devote to it, and this year i am just too scared of hurting my back and hips any more Crying or Very sad

and i know with all the weekends away we will have, the time issue will be just as bad too Confused

I hope you have lots of success with your veggies girls Smile
