In the Jill Oxton Australian cross stitch mag some of her charts are taken from paintings by an artist called Barry King.

A lot of his work depicts life in the outback and I took a scene from one of her x stitch carts and painted it for a competition.

Has anyone heard of him? I would love to see more of his work.

Thank you Ali,

I have tried googling and even asked a friend who was going to Australia on holiday to try and find out but no success. Maybe I should write to the mag? It's not everyone's cup of tea but I love his work. I have seen some others. I find them fascinating and fun. I love the legs . Rolling Eyes

The legs are great I agree Laughing Laughing It should have won but it's a lovely thing to have done whatever. I would try writing to the mag or emailing them and even send a piccy of your painting and you might get the 'Star Letter' treatment and be published Cool

I'll let you know if they publish my letter I think I will write. I don't do a lot of x stitch any more but I still buy the occasional mag It comes out 4 times a year and is very good. Lots of doggie pics to stitch.

Jacquie They said I had used the wrong size jar They didn't even open it and that really annoyed me but the judges made a hasty exit before everyone saw the marks I don't think they will get asked again to Judge. Lot of dissatisfied entrants especially in the baking and preserves Shocked

Carolinne it was taken from issue no 14 that came out in 1994 ( I keep them all) and I have put up the whole picture. It is called "The Wedding"

My picture is a bit faded because it has hung on the wall for a while. It is so Australian looking. Don't know what the bride thinks of dogs at her wedding Very Happy

This is the one in the mag. I think it is 14 count aida?
