I would really like to make the Apple Studel top-down cardigan in issue 7 of Yarn Forward - the design on the front of the mag - but I have a question. Has anyone else noticed that the cardigan buttons the wrong way? Even the ones on Rav are buttoned the wrong way and it would drive me nuts if I knitted it like this...

I hadn't noticed but you are right - guess everyone just followed the pattern blindly, but with my experience of YF patterns that's not always a good idea  Laughing (anyone who knit the mystery blanket will agree with that).

I'm too lazy to get up and go and find the pattern to look  Laughing but I'm sure a clever yarny person like you wouldn't have any problem in getting it to button the right way - and yes it would drive me batty - like the one pair of jeans I have that fasten the wrong way ( and no they aren't mens jeans before anyone asks  Laughing )

It's a lovely pattern - tbh I'd forgotten all about it!!! Could you not just swap the bands over or is it all knitted as one? I don't think it would especially bother me as it is tho Wink

Well I've emailed YF to ask if there are any errata  Confused but I suppose I could reverse the fronts couldn't I? It's knitted top down all in one though, so I'd have to think carefully as I knitted it  Cool

You did that with the FLS didn't you so shouldn't be too hard!! You could make a note on the pattern so you don't forget.

From the look of the projects in progress it looks like the bands are picked up and knitted on afterwards so it should be easy enough to work them the opposite way, though you migth need to swap the front and sleeve cable around, once you've worked a few rows the stitches will be all set up though.
Its annoying the amount of errors in YF, they cant even get the garments the right way round on the models, one front cover had the garment modelled inside out, another was worn back to front.

Don't bother knitting button holes, go buy some press studs and you can always add fancy buttons to the right side....

Hmmmm I could knit the bands on different sides but by the look of the pattern one front is wider than the other making it asymmetric iyswim? But I could just swap the number of stitches over to compensate and move the cable panel. I hadn't noticed that the sleeves were different!

The collar IS odd isn't it? I noticed that in the pattern too - I'm going to knit the collar so that anyone can see the cables as it's being worn. As it stands the cables are on the underside of the collar, which just looks odd to me  Shocked

Crumbs with all thse fixits to do I could end up having to do a complete rewrite!!
