Goodness yesterday was a day! I visited mum ( 4 hours in the car altogether ) and was home in time to attend an evening with Amy Butler, organised by my LYS, The Knitting Parlour, held in a local hotel.

What a lovely evening it was

I met with Hils, who some of you will remember, Wye Sue, and Ruth who is new to our Knit and Natter group.

Amy shared with us, by Powerpoint, a snapshot of her life - from her influences as a child, art school, her home life, her passion for creativity and design shone through, and although I don't sew I left feeling so enthused by her passion for colour.

She is a wonderful photographer who photographs anything and everything, from cows to flowers  Wink and having spent some time in the UK last month too there were some fabulous photos of National Trust gardens.

I will never be afraid of colour! Nature does incredible things with colour - leaves aren't green without good reason Wink

Amy sat afterwards tirelessly chatting to us all and signing endless autographs and was very generous with her time. She appeared charming, and quite simply a lovely person.

A wonderful evening - and a bargainous £5:00 at that  Shocked

I very much doubt it - I don't own a machine and never really mastered the art of threading one in a year's needlework at school Shocked

It just seemed a wonderful opportunity for an inspirational evening - and so close to home too.

It sounds a wonderful evening. Especially her ideas on the use of colour.

I can sew in a fairly basic way and have dabbled in a number of stitch crafts, but apart from when I used to make bears, I've never really been as inspired by fabric as I am by yarn.
